Dog swim event marks the official last day of Summer for Hawaiian Falls

As a celebration of the last day of Summer 2018, Hawaiian Falls The Colony hosted the 13th Annual Bow Wow Luau Doggie Splash Day Festival. Hundreds of dogs of all sizes and breeds splashed in the waves and fetched tennis balls to their hearts content. Some were happy to just float down the Lazy River on an inner tube with their best human friend.

“It’s one of our favorite days of the year,” said Jody Kneupper, Hawaiian Falls Managing Director. “Lifeguards didn’t need to blow their whistles much as the “no running” rule was relaxed for our sure-footed friends. Instead, the air was filled with happy barking and much laughter from their owners. If you’re a dog lover, you got to see pretty much every breed known to man. From massive Great Danes to tiny toy breeds, they all peacefully co-existed. And they were all having fun!”

The event benefited The Colony Animal Shelter Injured Animal Fund.

“After this last event, we will drain all the pools and prepare our parks for the off season,” explained Kneupper.  “We have some exciting plans we’re already working on for next season, including a Pre-Season Sneak Peek Party for season passholders, and a new Summer 2019 Concert Series. Stay tuned.”

Hawaiian Falls has already started selling discounted 2019 Season Passes, good for unlimited visits to all five Hawaiian Falls waterparks in Garland, The Colony, Mansfield, Roanoke and Waco. The waterparks will open to the public again in May of 2019.
